Jesus and the Samaritan Woman at the Well

Mid-14th century (?)
St. Peter's Cathedral

The water jug and the proximity to Jesus identify the figure on the right as the Samaritan woman of John 4, but the design of the column prevents any indication of their colloquy and its message. The church's printed guide does not mention these two sculptures but dates nearby stone figures to the mid-14th century.
